Sensory Squishy Dough

Playdough is a huge hit in our house but sometimes making it can be quite a faff, especially when Squiggle wants to help me. Instead I’ve been reaching for this ‘squishy dough’ recipe more and more lately as it is just so simple – it only has three ingredients!

Its easy for little ones to help make and is so fun to play with! It is soft, silky and very, very squishy. Adding in some bits and pieces gives the dough interest.

Sensory squishy playdough in a pinch!

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup hair conditioner
  • 1 1/4 cup cornflour
  • a handful of whatever you fancy – lentils, rice, sequins, glitter, dried chickpeas, beads…anything!

Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl until it has all combined. Tip the dough out onto a surface and knead for a minute or two until it forms a smooth, silky dough. If the mixture is a little dry, add some more conditioner; if the dough is too wet, add some more cornflour.

Then the dough is ready to be played with! Depending on what scent of conditioner you use your dough will create a lovely aroma to interest little noses – I used coconut conditioner which ended up smelling great. Squiggle kept sniffing it!
